Located in South Asia, with a national timezome that is GMT + 5.5hrs. The land area is 3.2m sq km (1.2m sq miles).

There are two official languages in Hindi and English and a range of regional languages.
Over 80% of the population are Hindu and about 12% Muslim. There are also Sikh, Christian, Jain, Parsi, Buddhist minorities and a very small Jewish minority
Power (interesting subject in its right) is 50Hz, 230-240 volts AC - power outages are short but common. You see various 2 and 3 pin type plugs. Some areas have a DC supply. Plugs used are of the round two- and three-pin type.
Social Conventions
The traditional Hindu greeting is to say ‘namaste’ and fold the hands and tilt the head slightly forward. Indian women generally prefer not to shake hands.
